Hey Bidu

3 cheers to Rajnesh and 6 cheers to his spirit.
Let me be critical now..
What after this....
There will be no consistency....They also tend to get into the same groove as the film industry and its system.
COmmercialisation, We give what peple want...We have to have balance between art and economics.

My question
1) Why did Rajnesh not release this film here?
Ans. Fear of failure, He knows this fact that people might not watch it and this will be a demotivating factor.

2) Will he release it here now?
Ans. Yes,With so much recognition and addulation rcvd ( did i forget to mention 50,000Euros)The media, Politician, Public, friends, People who had studied with him,his milk man, barber...etc now make him a hero and then a notion is set that he has now gotto start making movies which will satisfy their entertainment needs..

3) What should he do?
Ans. Common, Why r u asking me?I dont stay here, I come here every 6 months enjoy my stay and go back with bags full of goods( we call it NRI shopping) I dont care who does what here? im more worried abt my job,my savings, exchange rate, prices on properites,my investments....
Yes, this is what we Indians are good at.
Me,Myself and My family...
Our whole thinking pattern revolves around oneself,Social status, name and fame.
So when Rajnesh rcvs so much adulation, people recognising him ,he gets elated and on the top of the world. ..i hope u guys undrstnd...
So what next...he will be approached by big shot producer to make a movie...
Ab Rajnesh kia karega????
Will he succumb to that temptation and make movies for masses, classes..
(Shekhar Kamula)
or
Will he return back to USA to make movies ( Shekhar Kapoor)
or
Will he deicde to stay back and make movies on his own terms(Nagesh K)

I dont have the answer....

I cannot be judgemental- and why is that im talking about him... cause i have this desire to see the change...change in Indian society,Indian thinking without compromising with its values and ethos..films are just 1 sector...we are the largest makers of films in the world and how many reach Oscars or reach international market and get recognisiton.

Did i just say values and ethos...
Hmmm so .... hmm... r we thinking on the same lines....
Pata nahin...
SO u mean to say ...ok sorry ...i mean to say that there is problem in our values , ethos, culture....
may be may be not...

There is no society in this world that is perfect.... its now a personal choice.... u want to be part of which society... or want to create a new society...

Why all the angst,Jaris? You are being so presumptious.

Movies are not the only answer to our societal values, ethos and all that crap that comes along with it.
Why do you think 'commercial' cinema is useless? Its very easy to pass judgment on such things--take the case of a 'mason/laborer' who works his butt off the whole day for a mere 100Rs...and then watches something as fantastical as Chiranjeevi doing some anti-gravity stunts.Shekar Kamula is doing a marvelous job.Making a simple, straightfwd film--which has the nice elements...songs,comedy etc....is not an easy task either. If you see Kukunoors films--they aren't dark and bland--he is smart enough to have a good blend of commerce and moral/msg.
There is always this balance that a filmmaker should seek.An intelligent film maker strikes the right balance by having a mix of mass and class.

Yohan seems a bit confused.Just keep it simple--make a film, pass your msg and sit back and enjoy the ride.No point getting frustrated as to why the 'junta' may not like the movie etc.Truth, philosophy, values etc--just make a good reading.
Get your motive cleared first--answer this question"why are you making this movie"?To make money or just to 'make a point to the industry" or "a mix of both"?Answer that question--and all your fears, insecurities, frustrations will slowly disappear. It seems that you are beginning to understand the motive as the day passes--now that the movie is made,it is not the correct timing to dissect it,see what it means etc etc.The research, debates, why to make this movie etc etc--is to be done b4 the project begins.Once you get your doubts cleared,be sure of what you are trying to say---go ahead and make your statement. If the movie is for only a segment of a society,so be it....concentrate on that segment only.

Jaris--dont blame the poor junta for all this crap.

Anon,
Thanks for reading my piece.
I dint mean to blame poor junta,Cause blaming dead piece of meat is of no use,,,yes, if it has some life then can speak to it.

Ok why this harshness?
We have forgotten the basics of life.
Discipline.
Where is the society heading to...where everybody has a care a damn attitude....( Specially to the people of twin cities)

Anon, i donno if u life here or not,if u live here tell me honestly do u really like to live ur life here in this city?

If u dnt live here, then its different.

People earlier used to have concern for thsi city, not u dnt see it anymore.Where have all those glories gone?
I donno guys....whats going to happen to this city...development is haphazard - People have become negligent.
If u come with a positive attitude, u shed that and pull over care a damn attitude.

GOD SAVE HYDERABAD/SECUNDERABAD...

This is general attitude in every sphere of life here...movies are just 1 aspect.

As far as Yohan is considered, what i wud say is finish off this project and go abroad, make the kinda of movies u want to make and make us proud.
LOOK AT DEEPA MEHTA....
I love my country, but cant take it any more. But 1 day will return like Gandhiji returned from SOuth Africa and thus made history.
Wish me good luck guys..

Cheers

Jaris,
I am not from 'twin' cities:).Why do you call it 'twin cities'..sounds very funny.Well,i have lived there for about 4-5 years during the mid-90's.So,i can't comment on the state of things now.I am in Armenia now.

What is wrong with Hydrabad?Isn't what you say true with the whole of India?Any specific/persnal issue?

As for Yohan's movie...i am not so sure where he is taking this movie of his.He is over-analyzing it and hence getting frustrated.Make simple, easy to understand films--and the message will be passed.Check Hrishida's movies....one gem after another.Simple story, simpler dialogues and great delivery.Nothing about truth, philosophy, life etc.Why over-complicate things, boss?
Maybe because this is Yohan's first movie....he is on a path of self-discovery.Maybe 5yrs from now..he will know what kind of film maker he is.

As for 'twin cities':)....looks like it indeed needs some 'gandhi-giri'...haha
